Abstract

Riverbanks, often vulnerable to erosion and slope instability, face increased risks due to extreme flood events triggered by rapid urbanization and climate change. Our study introduces a novel solution, the Percussion Driven Earth Anchor (PDEA), in conjunction with articulated concrete blocks (ACB), for slope repair and stabilization. This innovative approach not only ensures satisfactory flow capacity but also offers long-term slope stability and surface erosion protection. Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) adopted such a slope stabilization approach for slope stability mitigation along the Clear Fork Trinity River at Interstate Highway 20 (IH-20) in Benbrook, Texas. A comprehensive laboratory and field test and instrumentation program was conducted to study the performance of the new soil anchor system. The results provide a viable solution to riverbank repair against the impact of extreme flood events.


报告人简介:于新豹教授毕业于美国凯斯西储大学,获土木工程专业博士学位。现为美国德州大学阿灵顿分校教授,德克萨斯州注册专业工程师、美国土木工程师协会(ASCE)岩土分会(GI)委员、美国非饱和土土力学学会技术委员会委员、美国土壤侵蚀-岩土工程技术委员会委员、TRR Journal 编辑;先后主持美国科学自然基金、美国科学院、加州交通部、德克萨斯交通部、俄亥俄交通部资助的多项课题,主持参与Geo-ShanghaiGeo-Congress Geo-China 等多次岩土国际大会;近年来一直致力于岩土工程、浅层地热能桥梁除冰、传感器技术及高级数值模拟相结合的跨学科研究工作,发表学术论文100多篇。
