嘉宾介绍:Fang Yenn Teo is Professor of Water & Environmental Engineering and Associate Dean at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. His research focuses on water engineering and management in a changing environment, with expertise spanning hydro-environmental science and engineering, coastal and river engineering, flood risk management, and urban stormwater systems. His work addresses key challenges in sustainable water management, climate resilience, and environmental protection, contributing to the development of innovative and nature-based solutions for water security and ecosystem sustainability. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (FAETDEW), Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (FAAET), Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (FIEM). He also holds prominent leadership positions in international professional organisations, including the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) and the International Water Association (IWA). He is actively advancing global efforts in sustainable water resources management and environmental stewardship as a water expert supporting high-level UNESCO Evaluation Missions and contributes to the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programm (IHP) on Hydrology for the Environment, Life and Policy (HELP) initiative.

报告摘要:Climate change is increasing floods, droughts, storm surges, and water insecurity, demanding more adaptive and sustainable water management. Building with nature offers a transformative approach through Nature-based Solutions (NbS) applied across the entire source-to-ocean continuum. By harnessing natural processes, NbS can reduce climate risks, improve water quality, enhance water storage, restore ecosystems, and support biodiversity. Significant opportunities exist at river-sea interfaces, where nature-integrated infrastructure and downstream reservoirs can provide flood protection, freshwater security, storm surge buffering, and ecological benefits. Reconnecting rivers and seas is essential for strengthening water resilience and sustainability. Continued research, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration are critical to scaling NbS and achieving a water-secure, nature-positive, and climate-resilient future.
